Esteemed Alumnus Receives Honorary Fellowship
Michael Wong Yick Kam received an honorary fellowship at a ceremony on 22 May. While enjoying a successful career in the property field, Michael always found time to give back to society. Over the years, he supported many CUHK scholarships and sat on the Board of Trustees of New Asia College. Additionally, he was the leader of the innovative Mei Ho House revival project, turning the historic landmark into a youth hostel and museum. Most recently, he was named Council Chairman of the Open University of Hong Kong, a great honour. We offer our heartfelt congratulations to this well-deserving alumnus! Giving Back by Giving Her All
As a young girl, Angela Fung (BSc in Quantitative Finance 2009) developed a desire to give back to society. She originally considered a public service career, but realised she was better suited to the financial industry. After graduation, she started working for HSBC and is now Executive Director of the Securities Division at Goldman Sachs. Angela is still dedicated to serving others, and founded the Leo Club of Hong Kong Citizens, which instils positive values in young people. The word “can’t” doesn’t appear in her dictionary, and never will! Read more about Angela’s inspiring story here.

Desert Adventure Brings Alumni and Students Together
In late May, 22 alumni and students from the CUHK EMBA (Chinese) program completed the 12th Xuan Zang Road International Business School Gobi Challenge, winning the Shackleton Champion Prize. Around 2,500 contestants from 57 international business schools in Asia, Europe and North America participated in the gruelling four-day event, making their way across 112 kilometres of unforgiving desert. Scorching sun, fierce windstorms and extreme temperatures dogged the CUHK team, but they triumphed thanks to dedication and teamwork. Click here to read more details.
Alumni Learn to Walk the Talk
At an EMBA forum on 5 June, participants focused on how they can make the world a better place by giving back to society. Two alumni, Mr. Simon Wong and Mr. Andrew Tsui, spoke about learning to “walk the talk” and make a difference in the lives of others using what they gained at CUHK. Both were inspired by the Left-Right Circle Theory, created by EMBA Program Director Prof. Andrew Chan, which focuses on how customers’ needs align with a company’s competencies.
